Whoa Hello!
It’s been a while, nice to see you here! First off I don’t think Jake will really be posting here anymore… he has his own blog going on out there somewhere in the blogosphere so most likely from now on the posts you read will probably be from me, Matt. Who knows maybe I’ll even start my own to keep it simpler to update you on how I, Matt am doing. But be assured if I do decide to do that I will post the link here to re-direct you to it.
So updates, updates and more updates Jake and I have been doing well in the past month. We have sadly finished up work at the ScareHouse for the season which I must say was probably one of the best experiences I have had, it was an amazing job and I always found myself asking “Really… they pay us to do this?” I met some really cool people along the way too and look forward to working with them all next year! Not to mention we had the best cast party ever at an adult arcade called Dave & Busters!
On the school side of things everything is going well, as of mid-quarter I have all 2 A’s, 2 B’s and one C which shouldn’t be hard to bring up. Jake is doing well also except for the fact that his perspective teacher is a total jerk.
We only have 5 more days till light up night which is very exciting! Light up night is an event in Pittsburgh consisting of festivals all day and the lighting of all the Christmas stuff at night along with the GIANT Christmas tree in downtown. Jake and I are both looking forward to skating on the Ice Rink and checking out the holiday cheer in downtown.
Other than that we will both be flying home for a week for Thanksgiving and can’t wait to have some home cooked Thanksgiving treats. Mmmmm foooddd!
I’ll try to post some pictures this week of some stuff!
Take care,
//Matt
PS: We met a girl that goes to out school who is from Elmira and graduated from EFA the same time we did!

Time off :)
Hey everyone!
I finally have a day off and have some time so i'll update ya. Welll since the last time I posted all we have been really doing is working and going to our new classes. On the 4th we met some of the members of Ghost Hunters a popular SciFi show.
Kris Williams, Jake and I
Steve Gonsalves, Jake and I
Dave Tango, Jake and I
So that was pretty cool... other than that we have been working alot.. 4 nights a week working alot of 'overtime' and going to classes.. jake has 6 classes a week I believe and I have 5 classes a week. We also now only have one class together on friday mornings which is nice because it gives us a chance to talk and get to know more people. Other than that nothing much has been going on... just work, sleep, class, eat, clean and homework.. :P
Anyway till i figure out something to write I'll leave it at that :)
Oh and heres a picture of me at work!
Take Care,
//Matt

Hello!
Sorry we have not been updating the blog lately but a lot has kept us busy in the past week or two. So I’ll give you a bit of what has been going on. I, Matt had to fly home for a week for a family death. It was nice to be back to good old Horseheads for a little but the reason I was there sucked. But before we left, as Jake and I said before we had job interviews to work at the
ScareHouse (www.scarehouse.com), an elaborate Hollywood quality haunted house or “Haunt.” We were both extremely excited when we found out we were hired for the job. I Matt am work in the Killer Drillers office…or well…the dead creepy dentist’s office. Jake will be working in Delirium 3-D as a 3-D snake puppet. We both had orientation on the 13th and it was really a good time.
On the school side of things we have been busily working to finish up loads of projects for the end of the quarter and finally as of yesterday we are done with our classes. We both did very well on the final exams and are heading home today to good ol’ Horseheads and Bigflats to stay till Thursday… we have a two week break but we have to return for work on Friday. Speaking of work on Friday the travel channel is coming out to do a show on the ScareHouse so Jake and I may just be featured on national televisionJ.
Other than that there have been many other…interesting…. Things that have happened such as the man fighting with the road for 25 min, the homeless man who helped us hand out flyers, Crazy old man, the guy who does drugs in the park and the dancing man in the red jumpsuit.
So that’s just a little update of what’s going on in the world of Jake and Matt… and please don’t mind my typing mistakes I’ve been awake for 28 hours, on a bus with no heat for 5 hours and haven’t ate much since dinner last night J sooo until probably Friday night..

Matt's Place of the Week
"Hello world, and Internet pedophiles"
Matt here and I'm here to present you with my hot spot of the week which will be added every Friiiiday!
This week I would like to introduce you to (the self titled) "Hobo Park" Hobo park is a nifty little corner located at the imidsection of Fourth ave. and Smithfield st. Hobo park seems to be a huge attraction of the street locals or "Hobos" maybe it has to do with the fact that there is a large ATM in the middle of it and it is in the shadows of a mighty looking bank...I don't know. But anyway while walking to class I try to avoid hobo park by crossing Smithfield so I don't get asked for money... I mean sometimes I would like to toss them a quarter or two but then they try to con you for more so I just try to avoid it generally. But I have learner one thing.. as long as you don't make eye contact with a "hobo" you will not be asked for money... its some weird thing they do... but as soon as you make eye contact you know what happens next.. you can just FEEL it coming.
Lessons learned:
1.) Don't give a hobo money...they are professional con artists.
2.) Don't make eye contact with a hobo
and last but not least.. don't use the ATM in hobo park.. then all the gangstas and hobos know you have cash!
-Matt :)
PS: As I was about to post this a quite loud verbal (I can hear it from the 8th floor :)) and almost physical fight erupted in hobo park :)

Country to City and Everything In Between
Helloooo!
So we're all settled in now and ready to start class in the morning!!! But because we had no access to the internet net for a while I'm going to update for yesterday and today. Enjoy!!!
Tuesday morning we packed everything up and hit the road for Rural Vanago to Phillis' house, just an hour away for Pitt. We stayed the night enjoyed a sweet ride in a 1930 Ford model A and also enjoyed the wide open country before heading off to the city. After arriving, we went to the college and finished paperwork and what not, and received our very own IDs!!! We moved in, met our two roommates, Thomas and Daniel (who are realllly cool by the way), and we've just been scouring the city ever since. It's been a little crazy going from the wide open country to the city, a little culture shock for us but nothing we couldn't handle. The city has just been amazing so far and we really love it, but we're still kind of tourists and I'm sure the luster will probably ware off in a few weeks... but we're just having fun while everything's still new. I'm still amazed that we haven't gotten lost yet! But Matt's like a human GPS so it's pretty good having him around.
This morning we got up before noon and took a little walk around the city seeing the sights and doing some shopping (we have some photos!!!) and we even got our schedules! (We have class only on every Thursday and Friday, from 8AM 'till 5:20PM) So we need to get up a little eariler tomorrow morning... But anyhoo; Whithout further delay! The photos!

High School Gripes
Ya know what...school does damage on ones wallet. Today me and Jake finished up some shopping that needed to be done, buying the last of our shared items that we will need such as an iron, toaster etc. So far we have spent about $500.00 on supplies for the room... that doesn't even include personal stuff that we have bought for ourselves such as shampoo, soap, towels...
But as the days go by I am starting to realize more and more that a whole new part of life is about to start. New people, new places, new "home" and no more of this high school stuff (thank god by the way) and while I'm on that topic i would like to rant about high school for a minute :) Okay so high school "the greatest years of ones life" HELLO high school consists of crappy food, annoying people and random old people who didn't even go to high school walking the halls telling you to show them a little signature that gives you permission to walk down a hallway. Ah I'll never forget the time the one lady told me i need to go back to the cafeteria because i didn't have a pass.. as i kept walking away from her she screamed "DON'T MAKE ME COME DOWN THERE AND GET YOU" (why does this old lady think shes a cop?) oh god was that funny.. why would she even attempt to leave her precious workplace...she wouldn't it was too far of a walk. But really.. you do meet some great people in high school and you do have some great times just high school is feeling more and more like pre-school.
But yes, I will miss good ol' Horseheads, I will miss my family, I will miss my friends, I will miss the wiener club and maybe I'll even miss my job...maybe. But its time to push onward to the real world. I mean its not like i wont ever be back :)

The First Post! Or, The Orgins of Jake and Matt
Half out of boredom, half out of curiosity, I've decided to start this blog chronicling The Adventures of Jake and Matt, two Graphic design students who are just a week from starting our first years of college at the Art Institute of Pittsburgh. I'm starting this blog to keep people informed and updated on our trivial lives as we live and go to school in the city. We leave on August 18th and 19th, with school starting August 21. Yeah, we're feeling a bit rushed with everything, but it will all work out and with the days winding down, we're both feeling a strong mixture of anticipation, excitement and nervousness with a hint of fear, all building and meshing into one as the days pass and as the realization that we're leaving this small town and it's people for a while grows steadily in our minds. It's quite a feeling and it's left us truly perplexed.
We've been working on getting things lined for the leave but we still have some shopping to take care of before the week is over. But I'd really like to start out by introducing our selves to the blogging community. My name is Jake, I turned 18 in May, as did Matt. We've know each other since the 10th grade, are going to the same college and we're rooming together. Matt and I are pretty much not alike at all, which kind of surprises me that we get along so well. Matt is extremely outgoing and I, well, am not. He's tall, I'm short. He has black hair, I, blond. We live in a small town, the kind of place where nothing ever happens, ever. As cliche as that sounds it's very true. Our town has absolutely nothing to brag about except for having the biggest WalMart on the east coast (well - when it was designed). we have that and lots of trees. That pretty much sums it up. We're just two teens, about to be launched head first into real life away from friends and family.
So this is it for tonight, I'll be sure to update as our adventure continues, as we move in and start classes, but for now not much is happening.
-Jake. (Thanks Matt for the awesome poster!!)
